Pornography depraves modern society

Word “pornography” originates from Greek ‘pornographia’ and implies representing of human body and human sexual activities with the purpose to provide sexual arousal.

Pornography or simply porno became ordinary social phenomena nowadays. Some people like and promote it, others find it to be intolerable but it is still widely available. Indeed it is quite difficult to determine how pornography affects society. Many scientists researched this issue and adduced proofs that pornography has both positive and negative implications. I would like to devote this paper to negative effects of pornography because I consider that pornography depraves modern society.

Nowadays pornography varies a lot: hardcore and softcore, child and adult, sadomasochism and animals, lesbian and homosexual, orgies and fetish, race-oriented and voyeur, anal and oral etc. As a rule people involve each other to participate in pornographic scenes voluntarily, but who can prove that animals involved voluntarily too? I am sure that nobody asked them if they would like to have a sex with people and thus sex with animals can be considered as a rape or at least as a depravity. From the ancient times people tamed animals – for instance dogs and horses were tamed thousands years ago and served people hand and foot, and in reward some people use animals in their dirty business not asking if they would like or prefer to refuse. So I consider it to be unfair, illegal and immoral because we have to be responsible for those who were tamed by us.

As it was already stated above animals are not the only subject to be raped and seduced – there is also child pornography exists. I understand that our world is not perfect at all and there will always be a place under the sun for criminals, murderers, maniacs, cranks, swindlers and even for those who neglects all mental and ethical principles which were developed through the centuries but I still can not accept the inevitable fact of child pornography. I do not understand people that produce child porno and those who like it. From the point of economics demand causes supply – in other words if there wasn’t people who buy child porno there wouldn’t be people who produces and sells it. So it can be figured out that there are a lot of fans of child pornography in society which cause porno producers to satisfy their wants and whims. Producers of child porno do not care about raped and seduced children and do not care about their future – such children are exposed to shock, pain, fright and many other unpleasant sensations. Abused children face many problems with recovering from mental disorders, communicating with people and trusting them, finding friends and lovers etc. So from the one side pornography involves some participants voluntarily and some under compulsion, from other side porn can fall into the hands of people with mental case and thus result in acute condition, mental disorder or even impel to a rape.

Availability of pornography makes it a real threat for society. Most adults understand that porno is not the very best way of relaxation and it does not contribute to the development of high ethical and moral standards, standard of education and creative imagination. But children do not understand it and of course the forbidden fruit’s sweet. So children find porno films or magazines and view them. As a result they receive erroneous conception of sex – for instance they can decide that sex with animals is a good way of relaxation and have a sex with pets. Hardcore pornography develops morbid imagination and even can cause a mental disorder in a weak childish mind. Moreover children may share pornography with their friends and multiply its negative effects. In the course of time these children grow and became adults but these adults will not be moralists or aesthetes. They will not be like George Washington or Abraham Lincoln. Such people will diffuse the gene pool of nations and deprave the world community.

Finally I would like to summarize my points: pornography has many negative consequences such as abusive, immoral and inhumane treatment with animals, adults and children; it can cause mental disorders and exacerbation of mental diseases; it can impel people to abuse and abused people can get complexes, face many difficulties in recovering from violation and communicating with people in future; pornography develops morbid imagination and gives erroneous conception of sexual practices etc and this is the way in which it depraves modern society. Many people ask themselves a question: “What will save our unjust world?” and I can tell with confidence that beauty will save the world!
